Duo Carve

Building on the already successful Duo Cheese knives, Studio17 applied the same logic to a carving knife and fork. Aside from high-end knives with dedicated cases, carving knives and forks often live separately in a drawer, exposed to becoming blunted by other items or cutting searching fingers.
Studio17 tackled both issues as the catalyst for the product. Exploring the negative space below the knife handle, it becomes a natural space to package the fork handle, creating a pleasing continuous form resolution when docked together.
Coupled with the sheath to protect the blade, fork and fingers, the profile is completed. Feature lines run around the perimeter, underscoring the continuity when assembled. Small neodymium magnets hold the knife and fork together; with the sheath snapping over both, keeping them secure.
Care has been taken not to compromise the ergonomics or aesthetics of each item individually and it remains elegant as a complete package.
